Rokt Upcart

Rokt Upcart appears within the transaction on the cart review, or bag, page and lets customers add relevant items to their order with a single click. It boosts revenue and lifts average order value (AOV) at the moment a customer is already committing to buy, without adding friction to the path to checkout.

The cart review page is a high-intent step in the Transaction Moment™: the customer has decided what they want and is moving to complete the purchase. A relevant, one-click add-on presented here complements what they are already buying and feels like a natural part of checkout, which is what makes it convert rather than distract.

How Rokt Upcart worksDirect link to How Rokt Upcart works

Rokt Upcart surfaces a relevant product offer in the cart and lets the customer add it to their existing order in one step.

The customer experienceDirect link to The customer experience

While reviewing their cart, the customer is presented with a Rokt Upcart product offer they can add to their purchase before finalizing the order. For example, they might see "Add this [accessory] to your purchase for $X," along with the product image, price, and a brief description. The customer ticks a box or clicks "Add to Order," the item is confirmed with a message like "Added!", and they proceed to pay for the combined order in a single transaction.

The one-click add-on relies on a tight integration with your checkout:

  • The Rokt SDK+ fetches a product offer from the Rokt Upcart product assortment that matches the customer's cart context, such as an accessory related to the items already in their cart.
  • When the customer adds it, your system treats it as an add-to-cart action, inserting the item into the cart via the Cart API.
  • For a third-party item, the product is set up in your catalog or via a virtual SKU so it can be added and paid for seamlessly in the same transaction.
  • You take payment and fulfill, or orchestrate the fulfillment of, the added product since it is presented as part of your checkout flow.

Rokt Upcart content comes from the Rokt Upcart product assortment and can be either your own first-party products or third-party products from the Rokt Network. Most commonly partners upsell their own items, but Rokt Upcart also lets you offer a relevant add-on you might not carry yourself, increasing revenue per order. On third-party items, you can negotiate a margin or commission, making it financially similar to a regular product sale.
