Referral Integration Overview
Rokt provides a few different ways for you to receive your referral data and we can accommodate the one that makes the most sense for you and your business. These include direct integrations in place with Zapier, Sailthru and MailChimp - referral export and custom audience import as well as Real-time API or CSV via Email or FTP. Read on for more information about each.
Real-Time API
An Automated Programming Interface (API) is a set of requirements that govern how one application can talk to another. In layman terms, an API allows Rokt to automatically share data with your CRM as it is collected.
Advertisers that have an existing API system in place with technical support who want to receive referrals in real-time should consider integrating with the Rokt platform using this method.

Scheduled Deliveries
Rokt can schedule referral delivery to be sent in batches at regular intervals that suit you and your business. We support two types of methods: Email and FTP.
We provide a large number of fields for each consumer that opts into your campaigns so that you know who is engaging with your campaigns and what they were doing on the partner site they engaged with. This can help you optimize your campaign for each audience.
You can also create custom fields to change the data that we provide if you would prefer it in another format (e.g. ‘Male’ instead of ‘M’). Learn more about creating custom fields in this article.
Only the new referrals generated since the last send will be sent to ensure you never receive duplicates.
This type of task will routinely send an email to selected approved recipients with all of the new referral data. This can be created from the Connections > Add Connections > Data > Tasks > Scheduled Tasks section. Each task can send an individual campaign or all campaigns under an account, and you can select what data to send to whom and when.

File Transfer Protocol
File Transfer Protocol is a network protocol that provides access, file transfer and file management functionalities. In layman's terms, an FTP allows Rokt to run over a secure channel to transfer and/or collect data files over a secure channel.

As a security measure, we will soon remove support for FTP, and will continue to support data access via SFTP and FTPS.
Manual Export
However, you like to have your referrals delivered to you, all of your data will always be accessible on the Rokt platform by going to Customer Data > Referrals > Export. This is useful for when you would like to look at all of your referrals over a certain time frame, or if you think you’ve missed something.
If something did go wrong, such as an API failing or you accidentally deleted an email, don’t worry! You can always log in to Rokt and download all of the customers you’ve acquired over the course of any of your campaigns.
