A campaign is a collection of audiences and creatives that share the same marketing objective and draw from the same budget. These campaigns will be eligible to be shown on 3rd party sites on the Rokt network.
Whenever you have a new marketing objective that is materially different from the objectives of your existing Rokt campaigns, you’ll need to create a new campaign. If the marketing objective is identical or similar to an existing campaign, you should first consider extending the existing campaign - by changing the end date or executing another Marketing Order - or adding audiences/creatives to an existing campaign.
Before creating a new campaign, you’ll need:
- The campaign’s objective.
- A start and end date (optional).
- The marketing order (MO) associated with the campaign (similar to an Insertion Order).
- Any caps associated with the campaign -- daily, month, lifetime spend caps, and/or daily referral caps.
How to Create a New Campaign
On the Campaign List page, click on the “Add Campaign” button. The campaign wizard will appear.
Set your campaign strategy and objective.
Name your campaign. The best practice for naming your campaign is to include the marketing objective, country, and timeframe (like “H1 2019”) within the name of the campaign.
For your campaign to show on third-party sites or apps, select 'Acquire' and then select the primary objective.
If you select 'App Installs' as a primary objective, you will need to provide at least 1 URL for your app (for the iOS App Store or Google Play Store).
Select a 'Referrer exclusion period' to prevent a campaign from being shown to a user who has already generated a referral in the same campaign within the selected timeframe.
Click 'next' when done.
Select how you want to be billed.
Provide basic campaign campaign information like brand name, vertical, sub-vertical and Rokt New Business Manager and Sales Account Manager. Hit 'Next' when complete.
Set campaign terms (optional).
Hit 'Next' when complete.
Specify the campaign budget and schedule.
Campaign start and end date:
Both the start date and end date of the campaign are optional.
If start date is specified, creatives will not be eligible to be displayed until the start date.
If end date isn’t specified, the campaign will run until the budget associated with the campaign is exhausted.
If end date is specified, the campaign will end on the end date, regardless of how much budget is remaining.
The start date must be today or later. The end date must be after the start date.
Enter your budget and set caps.
Every campaign must have a Marketing Order (MO) associated with it. Enter the Marketing Order number associated with the campaign.
Some campaigns might also have a Purchase Order (PO). Specify the PO number, if available.
Caps — every campaign can have a combination of daily, monthly, and lifetime spending caps associated with the campaign. In addition, a campaign can have daily referral caps associated. Specify any caps associated with the campaign.
You can remove a budget by clicking the minus icon.
Add a new budget by clicking “Add budget”.
Your new campaign has now been created and will be queued for approval by the Rokt Operations team.
For your new campaign to go live, you will also need to:
- Create at least one target audience (and have that audience be approved);
- Create at least one creative (and have that creative be approved); and
- Link at least one approved creative to an approved audience.
